Imagine yourself to wake up one morning with a feeling of sadness, frustration and annoyance. So to deal with it, one must stop figuring out what they want to do with the rest of their lives! You simply need to focus on what is coming next and how you need to deal with it. Stop worrying about the future and act according to your present circumstances. You don’t have to chalk out an entire plan but simply take one step at a time to figure out what you are doing in your life.

Step 1: What do you want?
First is to identify what you actually want in life. This step involves you to take a step back, relax and have a clear picture of what exactly you want to achieve in life.
This seems simple, yet it’s often quite hard to address because generally people forget about what they want to do in life and take decisions based on what’s best for their career, family or others.
Be clear and specific as to what you want. Always keep current and long-tern goals in your mind and try not to deviate from it.
Once you are clear, you can move to the next step.
Step 2: Who are you?
As you move forward, you need to identify who you are. Understand your thoughts at a deeper level and make decisions based upon those insights. Eventually you will start taking steps that will make you happier, more fulfilled and more successful.
In this process, try to identify the following:
- What is most important thing/ goal/ decision I want to do/ achieve/take right now?
- Know about your core values.
- Identify your passions and interests.
- Think about your skills and talents and how you can utilize it.
- Keep your wish list in mind and decide how you can fulfil it?
- What change will you like to see in you or your daily life?
- Try to figure out what you don’t want in life
Take time and allow yourself to answer these carefully. Write down and highlight what you want and what you don’t want.
Step 3: What are your options?
After you have decided what you want in life and who you are, next is to explore your potential options. Allow your creative mind to expand and see all the possibilities. Think about all the possible options without worrying about whether they are possible or not. This allows you to dig deeper and see those opportunities that you might not see otherwise.
Take time, explore all the possible options, write them down, do not limit yourself, and then move to the next step.
Step 4: Which options are the best fits right now?
Okay, so once you have the list of options handy, it’s time to narrow it down and explore those options in a little more depth.
Place yourself in each of those options and think “what if” you were in that new situation/role/option/relationship.
This way you will be able to know the best option for you at that time. Knowing the best option will help you to understand yourself better and want you want in life.
Once you have the required information and idea of the next best option for you, it’s time to move on to the next question.
Step 5: What’s stopping you?
As you explore your options, it’s likely that you might encounter barriers while achieving goals. Perhaps these barriers can be your internal fears or limiting beliefs that could be stopping you. Do not think that the option is wrong, you simply need to dig deeper and identify what’s getting in your way. Ask yourself, “What else can I do to move with the option?” until you identify what’s getting in your way.
Step 6: What can you do to move forward?
So now once you have narrowed down and explored your options, take an action.
Now this part can be somewhat hard as this is the first step towards making it happen or taking a step towards your goal. Give yourself a timeline or a deadline, and turn those ideas into reality.
If you really want to move forward, it is time to make up your mind, gather your energy and put in the effort towards achieving your goals.
Be brave to face all kind of consequences that might creep in. And always remember you have to do it, at all costs. It’s your life, and it’s only you who can lead it in the way you ever imagined.
