According to Ayurveda, herbs are used to eliminate dampness and toxins from the body and give you a glowing complexion. Let us have a look at the most popular herbs and their uses for a supple and softer look:
1) Get rid of Depigmentation with Licorice
Often known as Mulethi, Licorice is considered an effective remedy to get rid of hyper pigmentation and sun burns. The root extracts act as a shield to protect the skin against harmful UV rays and controls melanin production. An active ingredient, Licochalcone A, guards the skin from harsh rays of the sun. For instant results, mix 1 tbsp. licorice powder and 1 tsp. oats powder with milk or rosewater and apply it on red, acne-prone areas.

Saffron or Kesar, has anti-inflammatory properties to get rid of wrinkles, fine lines and patchy skin. This herb is an excellent skin toning agent which helps to unclog pores, keeps the skin firm and eliminates blackheads. When used on the skin, Saffron improves the blood circulation and keeps the skin well-toned. For best results, soak few filaments in milk and apply it on skin for five to ten minutes.

Sandalwood, also known as Chandan, is known to have antiseptic, astringent, anti-inflammatory and disinfectant properties. Sandalwood powder helps to reduce rashes, pimples, blackheads and other eruptions. It blocks the growth of bacteria and tones up the skin. To get rid of acne and acne scars, mix 1 tsp. of Sandalwood powder and 1 tsp. of black gram powder. Make a paste by adding water and apply it evenly on acne for half an hour.

Rich in Vitamin C, A and antioxidants, Tomato juice helps in anti-aging process, reduces acne, treats sunburns, maintains pH balance and tightens pores. For instant glow, apply tomato juice on the skin with cotton and wash it after half an hour for that party ready look.
