There is a very famous quote “The groundwork of all happiness is good health.” It means if you wish to lead a happy life, you need to take good care of your health. In today’s busy lifestyle when people are burdened with home and office work, they pay very little attention to their diet and exercise. And that eventually leads to several health hazard diseases. Walking is a very convenient and gentle form of exercise that can be easily done and is beneficial for people of all age groups. It lowers the risk of high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and saves from the heart-related diseases and heart stroke. Research has proved that people who regularly walk even at the slow pace are less likely to suffer or die from heart diseases compared to the people who don’t walk regularly.

You can also take a stroll while performing the everyday tasks. Like, take your dog out for a walk or visit the neighborhood park with your friends and family. Avoid lifts or escalators instead take the stairs in the office, shopping malls, etc. If your office is near to your apartment, then try to walk to work instead of driving. It is not only beneficial for health but the environment as well.
Keep track of your daily walk through a smartphone app or fitness device. It will keep a tab on how much you walk each day, the number of steps you take and the number of calories you burn. These fitness apps are like personal trainers that you can keep in your pocket and take everywhere with you.
Going for a walk every day gives you the opportunity to meet new people. Sometimes you come across someone who shares similar interests, and you end up becoming friends with them. So, apart from the health benefits, walking also helps in expanding your social circle.
