Madhuri Dixit, the vivacious beauty of Indian film industry who enjoyed her stardom in Bollywood for more than two decades. She is known for her outstanding performances in many blockbusters including Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Dil, Saajan, Devdas, Koyla, Dil to Pagal Hai, etc. During her acting career, Madhuri Dixit received huge acclamation and won many awards including the Padma Shri. Madhuri Dixit was born on 15th May 1967 in a middle-class Maharashtrian family to late Shankar Dixit and Mrs. Snehlata Dixit. She entered the Bollywood in 1984 and made her debut in the movie Abodh directed by Hiren Nag. Madhuri Dixit struggled a lot in her film career before receiving recognition for her role in the film Tezaab. She went on proving her mettle in the superhit movies Ram Lakhan, Beta, Khalnayak, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, etc. The famous painter, M F Hussain admired Madhuri’s beauty and talent a lot. He also made the film Gaja Gamini casting Madhuri in the lead role as a tribute to her.

On 17th October 1999, Madhuri Dixit married Dr. Shriram Madhav Nene, a cardiovascular surgeon in Los Angeles, California. After the marriage, she took a break from the films and moved to Denver, Colorado along with her husband. In March 2003, Madhuri Dixit gave birth to her first son, Arin and in March 2005 to her second son, Rayaan. In 2007, she made a comeback in the Bollywood with the movie, Aaja Nachle. After staying in Colorado for over a decade, Madhuri Dixit moved back to Mumbai with her family in October 2011. Later, she acted in the films Dedh Ishqiya and Gulaab Gang and judged the dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa for four seasons.

Apart from an outstanding film career, Madhuri Dixit is also famous for social work and charity. In 2001, she won Rs. 50 lacs on the game show Kaun Banega Crorepati and donated the money for the welfare of Gujarat earthquake victims. She also performed in the NDTV Toyota Greenathon campaign to create awareness regarding environmental issues. Madhuri Dixit is the brand ambassador for the charity project “Emerald for Elephants” that works for the conservation of Asian elephants and other endangered species. Apart from that, she endorses government initiatives like Sukanya Samridhi Yojana and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign that works towards the development and empowerment of women.
