In the new series of these front-runners of technology, the manufacturer has made a tremendous effort in its design and look. Before you choose one of them as your future laptop or suggest to buy these machines, it is necessary to understand the pros and cons of the body.
Almost a year after the launch of the Surface Book, Microsoft has launched a revised version of it along with its premiere desktop PC, The Surface Studio. On the other hand, the Apple Inc. which is the prime competitor of Microsoft series has also launched new MacBook series. In the new series of these front-runners of technology, the manufacturer has made a tremendous effort in its design and look. Before you choose one of them as your future laptop or suggest to buy these machines, it is necessary to understand the pros and cons of the body.
The Look, Design And The Body
The surface book has a Magnesium alloy body with the hinge that curls around its back; the alloy body has increased its weight. The Surface book pro is now around 1650gm. Apple has an experience with the manufacturing of metallic body, and the company has offered a new range of MacBook series with the weight of 1360gm. Apple new series having a thickness of 14.9mm is much thinner than its competitor Surface Book, which has a thickness of 22.8mm.
The manufacturers have worked more on the looks of these new entrants, but it seems they haven’t cared much about the cutting edge technology including processors and connectivity. Their low-end rivals are providing much better technology than these machines. Apparently, when we buy a mechanical device like a laptop, we should be more concerned about the technical details like processors and connectivity rather than its look. It seems these two ace player of technology are providing less than they are charging.
Microsoft Surface Book
In the updated version of Surface book, Microsoft has used Intel Skylake-based processor and NVIDIA Maxwell-based GTX9 Series GPU. A not so tech-savvy customer will not be able to understand these technical jargons and will be satisfied with the brand value of these companies, but the processor which has been used in these devices are outdated. The processor manufacturer Intel has launched its new Kaby Lake-based processors, the 7th generation core series products. On the other hand, NVIDIA has launched its Pascal GPU architecture. These processors are more energy efficient and high on performance. The Surface studio doesn’t even have a Thunderbolt connectivity. No matter how updated a machine looks, their performance is determined by their processors. For such high end claiming device, an NVMe storage is a must.
In its newer version, MacBook manufacturers have used AMD’s Polaris-bases Radeon Pro graphics technology which is commendable. Their new touch Bar has already tried years back by Lenovo.
In the age of rapid change, technology becomes obsolete faster than ever. Every year technologies are hitting the market, provide a better experience to the customer with smooth functionality. So, even if you don’t require an ultra-advanced technology, paying your hard earned money on an outdated technology is not advisable. The newer versions of the models as mentioned above will replace these old technologies, and the better performing version will be available in same or lower prices. Finally, it seems a better advice for the customers that don’t buy an outdated technology just for the sake of good design because you have to use it at the end of the day. Always check the specifications of the device and compare the price and technical specifications.
