As a child, she was made fun of and picked on just because of her black skin. It wasn’t easy to deal with it but she never gave up and embraced her dark skin without any grudges. She never thought of changing her appearance to feel more accepted by the society.
In her interview, she candidly said that she has been nicknamed “mother of the stars, Darky, and daughter of the night.” It was tough to celebrate her black skin as a child but she learned to respect her life, appreciate her skin and love herself more every day. She ignored people’s negative comments. Her positive attitude towards herself made her sail through the difficult times.
